Why Nintendo Switch Sucks Online: 10 Things That Are Bad

Table of Contents

While the Nintendo Switch Sucks has been all the buzz recently, it isn’t without its flaws. Among Nintendo’s newest systems, these are the top ten most frustrating features.

1. The First Games Are Terrible

If there is a Game of the Year award this year, it will go to Breath of the Wild: The Legend of Zelda.  It exemplifies what Nintendo is capable of when they merge their innovative hardware with their fantastic franchises, and it is arguably the best launch game ever developed. However, except for Breath of the Wild—which is also playable on the Wii U—what else is there? Some games are already out on other platforms; for example, Shovel Knight, a side-scrolled, and I Am Setsuna, a JRPG.  On the other hand, 1-2 Switch, Just Dance, and Snipperclips are all brand new.  Right now, there aren’t enough titles that take advantage of the Switch’s unique capabilities to make it worth it to buy one on launch day.

2. A long-wired pair of headphones is required.

In 2017, many players have grown accustomed to being able to connect their headphones to their controllers.  It’s a major perk of using a wireless controller that wouldn’t be present if they had to use headphones attached to their screen. Coming soon: the Nintendo Switch.  Despite being a common feature on the Wii U, neither the Joy-Con grip nor the Pro Controller include a headphone output.  It won’t be an issue when you’re three feet away from the screen on an airplane, but it’s bound to annoy players when they’re seated across the room from their TVs.Worse yet, Nintendo Switch Sucks and does not work with Bluetooth headphones.  The absence of a headphone port is a major letdown for such a pricey piece of technology, especially considering that even 2017’s inexpensive tablets come with this feature as standard.

3. The Kickstand Is Poor Quality and Could Broken

A lot of what the Switch has to offer is great.  Both the screen and the Joy-Con have excellent build quality.  It’s disappointing that the switch’s kickstand is so weak; it will ultimately break.  Nintendo should have avoided cutting corners like these to keep prices down, especially considering that the ability to stand up the screen and play virtually anywhere is a major selling point of the Switch. If we’re talking about using the stand to prop up the screen, it does so at an awkwardly steep angle and isn’t very stable, making it useless in most scenarios.  The exposure of your MicroSD card upon its eventual removal also poses a threat to any games you may have saved on it.

Back of the Switch, there’s a kickstand that seems like it’s going to break any second. It seems unstable and raises the screen at an awkward angle that isn’t practical in many contexts. In the event that it cracks, your memory card will be left exposed since it serves as both a cover and a slot for MicroSD cards. I fully expect Nintendo to release a plethora of expensive Switch cases including adjustable kickstands that are reinforced.

4. The Irritating Joy-Con Release Buttons

You’re in the thick of things when you decide to take the Joy-Con controllers off and use the unstable kickstand to steady the screen.  Well, I wish you the best of luck doing that without inadvertently pressing other buttons too. The Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con attachment is detachable, but pressing the tiny release buttons is a real pain.

5. An HDMI port is absent: Nintendo Switch Sucks5. An HDMI port is absent- Nintendo Switch Sucks askviz banner

Imagine you’re showing off your shiny new Nintendo Switch sucks at a friend’s house.  As you slouch at the kitchen table, engrossed in your game, he glances over at you and suggests, “Hey, how about we connect it to my massive HD TV and play on the couch!”If you want to use it on a TV while away from home, such at a relative’s or a hotel, you’ll have to explain that you forgot the dock and that there isn’t an HDMI connector. This will make you look foolish.

6. The dock’s HDMI cable is undersized

Regarding high-definition multi-media interfaces, the Nintendo Switch Sucks ships with an HDMI cable that is less than five feet.  Not everyone will have this issue, but the normal 6-foot cables used by most switches aren’t always just beneath the TV, and many gaming setups don’t have that. The controllers for the NES Classic were much shorter, so that’s a plus.

7. It’s Not Fun to Charge

At the very base of the Switch is where you’ll find its charging connector.  The console can’t be charged while resting on a table; it must be held or placed on its side for the charging process to complete.  That’s a little detail, but the charging port might have been placed on the top, sides, or back of the device to prevent this blunder.  Not at the very bottom, though. Speaking of which, rumors have claimed that the Nintendo Switch sucks actually drains its battery even when docked and playing games.  It doesn’t drain the battery sufficiently to run out of juice right after opening the package, but it does raise concerns over the Nintendo Switch’s battery life in the future.

8. The Dock’s Charging Port Design Is A Real Pain

Charging the Switch in its dock is a foolproof method to keep your hands free and prevent the screen from becoming flattened as it charges.  However, the steam deck sucks, the AC adapter is not conveniently located on the dock; to use it while on the go, you need to open the dock and remove it.  Even if it’s minor, this one thing is becoming more and more bothersome.

9. The Joy-Con Charging Process Is Too Complicated

Your Nintendo Switch sucks Joy-Con controllers will not charge when inserted into the provided grip when playing on a television.  Nightly charging requires disassembling the grip controller and reattaching the Joy-Con to the dock’s screen. The fact that the slide-over Joy-Con caps aren’t always easy to put on and take off just adds to the annoyance. When you realize you’ve forgotten anything, you’ll wish you’d shelled out the additional £28 for a Charge Grip that’s practically the same but has a USB port for charging.

10. A Good Switch Will Cost You More Than £400.

Upon purchase, the Nintendo Switch will set you back £280.  You won’t have much use for it, but it will look good in your room.  If you really want the Nintendo Switch, you’ll have to shell out a lot more cash. Games on it are a good place to start.  You will spend fifty pounds on Zelda: Breath of the Wild since it is the only decent launch game.

If you’re going to be playing for extended periods of time, you’ll want a better controller, but the Joy-Con is fine for portable use.  So, for those late-night sofa gaming sessions, you’ll need a Switch Pro Controller, which will set you back £65. The previously stated Charge Grip is another option to consider if you’re weary of losing the charge on your Joy-Con.  The total will be £28. I’m grateful. Your new, pricey piece of tech will require a case if you plan on playing games while traveling.  Thankfully, you can find several third-party cases that are suitable and affordable (about £10) for a variety of tablets (and even Nintendo Switch Sucks consoles).

Considering the Switch’s 32GB of onboard storage is standard, we can move on to the next storage requirement: extra space.  A 128GB MicroSD card, which adds further storage space, is available for a modest £35. The regular Nintendo Switch bundle costs £280, and that’s before you even include the £188 in extras.  Even if you preordered the base model of the Nintendo Switch sucks, the system you really wanted would cost at least £400.

FAQS

  1. Why does Nintendo have bad online?

Unlike PS4 and PC, the Switch doesn’t come with an Ethernet port, so most people would rather use their crappy 2.4Ghz wifi connections rather than investing in a broadband adapter. Furthermore, you’ve got to take people who play handheld mode in online play into consideration as well as Switch Lite owners.

  1. What is the disadvantage of Nintendo Switch Sucks?

Cons of the device:

The base frame is moderately weak, plus too much pressure on the base of the device can cause scratches. Besides, there are no free games available before purchasing other games.
